Blog Post #14: Compare and Contrast
I feel like they are both kind of similar for me because my schedule isn't much different. I start at 8am and finish at 3;30pm and have lunch at 12 so not much is different. I wake up at the same time but the difference is this place is closer drive from my house and sometimes I get to leave work early because I finished all the work I am able to do that day unlike school, if I finish my work early, I don't get to leave early and I have to get signed out by a parent to leave early. It's just little things that are different when it comes to the schedule and stuff. I feel like my responsibilities are very different, At my internship, I am responsible for many different kinds of animals and if I am late or I mess up, I am affecting all the animals around me.
For school, I am only responsible for myself. At school, I do get a lot more human interactions. At work I do talk to people but not as much as I talk at school. Most of the work I do is independent work so I am by myself a lot and when I do talk to anyone, its because I either have a question about something, a guest has a question or comment about something or at lunch. At first, this felt weird because I was so used to talking to my friends and laughing with them a lot and now, I don't laugh or talk much except on Tuesdays and Thursdays when this other intern comes in. Even when he comes in, |
I still don't talk or laugh as much as I would do at school but I talk and laugh more than any other day at work and its nice. I still have fun at LCDC but its a different kind of fun. Also, I am still not used to not seeing my friends everyday. I see Angel almost everyday because of basketball and because shes always inviting me to hangout but my other friends its been hard to hang out because out schedules are so different. I feel like me doing this internship has changed my perspective of many things and has made me a little more responsible. With the knowledge I have gained from this, I will bring this back to school and share with the people around me. After doing this, like I said, it has changed the
way I think about certain things and made me more aware of the environment we all live in and everything we do is really affecting our local animals and I plan on helping LCDC make this world better for the animals by changing my ways and spreading the word around. |
