-October Sky-
In the October Sky project, we were formed in a group to make a rocket. You had a choice to make a paper rocket or a bottled rocket. The difference was that the paper rocket was launched with air and the bottled rocket was launched with water. We had three different groups. The first group was actually a partnership one and we had to make a paper rocket. 2nd round of the project, we were put in a group of two and got a choice of which rocket we were going to make. The third time around was the same structure of the 2nd one but this time, we had to pay for our materials, even if we brought them in. We were given a certain amount of money (fake by the way) to spend and had to keep track of how much we spent/gained. There were three jobs each member got. Project Manager, Budget manager and Project design manager. Project manager was in control of making sure everything was getting in on time. Budget manager was in charge of managing the money and the last job was in charge of doing all the artsy kind of thing.
From doing the October Sky project, I learned many things. One lesson that I know that will stick with me forever is that its okay to fail. Fail is just abbreviated for First Attempt In Learning. My group and I had made a lot of mistakes throughout the project and from those mistakes, we know to avoid them in the future and to never stop improving or in other words, never give up. I know that's kinda cliche but its true. Two biggest things I liked while doing this project was I got to make new relationships with the students in my class and I got a chance to redo this project to improve my skills that I gained last year. Something I didn't like during this project was how Jocelyn made every little thing cost money and it was expensive. Even questions had a price tag of $1,000! A strength I had during this project was I stayed focus. I always tried my best to stay on task and I managed my time wisely during this project. I tried not to waste any time and get as much as I was able to get done in the time that was given. When I managed my time wisely, I got assignments completed so I was able to turn in my assignments in on time and didn't have to worry about it when I got home. I did have a weakness though and that was keeping my team mates focused. They had a hard time using their time wisely. The reason why that's a weakness for me was because I was the project manger in this project and my job was to make sure all my team mates were focused and turning items in on time. My group did get stuff finished but last minute. I feel like if I put more effort in helping them complete their parts, we as a group wouldn't have done any of our work last minute. I was the only one in my group who did everything ahead of time.
Below is three of my launches in order of when they get launched.
