Blog Post #9: Social Interactions
Everyone is kind of doing their own thing throughout the whole day. There is a part of the site that people work in cubicles but where I work, we call it the prep room because that is where we do most of our work; prepping all the food. In the prep room, we do talk to each other but not a lot because, there is a checklist we have that needs to get done by the end of the day so we are all separated checking things off. There are certain things where we work together like feeding the sharks, rays, and sea turtles. We all prep the food and grab our feeding poles for one of our sea turtles and we all go feed them together. Sometimes, another volunteer or intern who is there for the day, work together on cleaning in the other rooms where our reptiles are but not all the the time. Most of the socializing that does happen is at lunch. Everyone including the people who work in the cubicles has lunch at the same time (12:00) and they talk, a lot. I feel like sometimes, the lack of talking/communication that happens where I work, can reflect on LCDC;s work. If we don't communicate with each other on certain things, then sometimes
something will get forgotten or done wrong. Not much talking is needed to complete everything on that list but somethings need to have a small meeting about it so it gets done right. |
